Where is Hanover?

Hanover is the middle of EVERYWHERE!

The town of Hanover is centrally situated geographically which makes it always on the road to EVERYWHERE!  It nestles at the crossroads and midpoint of the N1 highway between Cape Town (south) and Johannesburg (north) and the N10 between Upington (the route to Namibia ) and eastwards towards Port Elizabeth at the coast.

Located in the Great Karoo, Hanover falls into the area known as the north-east Karoo, closest to the Free State and within the Northern Cape province of South Africa .

........Covering about 390 000 square kilometres.............

Sip a Sheepaccino at the Coffee Baa-ar

Ever indulged yourself and experienced a sheepaccino?

The Coffee Baa-ar at the Hanover Lodge Hotel is the only place in South Africa (and probably the world!!) which serves the fluffiest sheepaccinos, tastiest merinos and good hot dorpers. The names of these refreshing drinks were inspired by the main farming activity in the area and relate to breeds of sheep. Sheepuccinos come in two sizes – Ramaccino (large) and Lambaccino (small).

Pop into the Coffee Baa-ar and pick your favourite breed. Add a generous slice of home-baked cake and relax while browsing through the newspaper or chatting to one of the friendly local residents. Page through the informative books about the district and the Karoo or take some time to study a map or two.

On display are many interesting and historical articles and photographs which have been generously donated to the Hanover Lodge Hotel. The collection provides a glimpse into the history of the town and surrounding farms. Of special interest is the wall display of stencils used on wool bales in the past.

The Coffee Baa-ar is fully licensed and serves pub-style meals all day.

See you there soon!
